April Favourites

All the chocolate eggs have been eaten and another month has passed and that means another lot of products that I have discovered (or rediscovered in some cases), that I thought I’d tell you about. Here;’s what I have been loving throughout the month of April;

REN Serum

REN Serum

REN SKINCARE – ‘Keep Young and Beautiful Firming and Smoothing Serum’ – I figured it was time to grow up and stop relying on serum samples that I get everytime I order something online! So I did a bit of research and found Ren Skincare very helpful on Twitter and decided on this particular serum. It is a bit of a minefield choosing skincare products, so definitely worth looking into what’s right for your skin. So far, I’m really happy with this one. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and apply it both morning and evening time after I’ve toned my skin and before I apply my moisturiser. It’s not cheap at €54, but claims to keep your skin looking younger for longer by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, which is always a winner in my eyes. I also think that it will last me a few months so it’s not too bad. There is one thing I really don’t like about this product and it’s the smell. When you really rub it into the skin it just doesn’t have a pleasant smell which really annoys me!! (silly I know). My skin definitely feels smoother and softer to touch so I’m going to keep with it and hopefully reap the benefits.

Tanya Burr - Champagne Toast Lip Gloss

Tanya Burr – Champagne Toast Lip Gloss

Tanya Burr – Champagne Toast – Whilst I do try to make an attempt to wear more colour on my lips, I just can’t help myself by going back to the neutrals and this lip gloss to me is just perfect. Worn on it’s own it’s a gorgeous glassy effect that is a sort of clear, golden colour. It’s also the perfect gloss to put over lipstick and I’ve been wearing it over my Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter and my Charlotte Tilbury ‘Penelope Pink’ lipstick. Every time I wear it, I always get compliments (which is always nice). Plus it smells divine!

Ginvera Green Tea Nude Cover BB Cream

Ginvera Green Tea Nude Cover BB Cream

Ginvera Green Tea Nude Cover BB Cream – This has to be my stand out product from all my PowderPocket boxes so far. I had previously been using the L’Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream if I didn’t want to go for a fuller coverage and was having a ‘less make up’ day. But I did find that it gives my skin a bit of an orangey colour and if I’m not tanned or just looking a bit pale, it’s really noticeable. The Ginvera BB Cream does everything you want from a BB Cream. The Ginvera Green Tea Skin Care range hails from Singapore and is much loved through out South-East Asia. It’s enriched with premium Green Tea, Ginseng, Chinese Angelica and Hyaluronic Acid. This BB cream provides the benefits of blemish free concealing, sun block effects (SPF 30), moisturising and reduction of lines, providing a long lasting smooth and ultra light feel to nourish and perfect your skin. It says it’s suitable for all skin tones, but I’m not sure how it would look on a really dark skin. I love how this goes on the skin and it really does give the skin a flawless look. If you had any really red blemishes then you probably would need to add some concealer. I’ve just repurchased this as I will be included in my hospital bag when I have the baby, as it’s the perfect skincare product to make me look more human. A total winner all round and it gets a big thumbs up from me!

Sleek Make Up Eyebrow Stylist

Sleek Make Up Eyebrow Stylist

Sleek Make Up EyeBrow Stylist – I purchased the medium in this and was intrigued to see if it would be a good alternative to the Charlotte Tilbury Brow Lift pencils, as I can only lust after these. I have been pleasantly surprised by the cheaper Sleek option. At first I wasn’t too taken with it, but after giving it another try, it’s now my everyday brow product. I find that the waxy pencil gives a really nice look to the brows that is quite natural which is due to the rich creamy formula which is matte and velvety. I also love the fact that at the other end of the pencil there is a brush to groom the brows into place. The tip is thicker than most normal eyebrow pencils which means that you can make both thin and thick strokes for outlining and filling.

Blank Canvas E10 Brush

Blank Canvas E10 Brush

Blank Canvas E10 (Small Socket Blending Brush) – This little beauty was a free gift with my last order from Blank Canvas and had been rather neglected until recently. It’s turned out to be an absolutely fantastic brush. As someone that doesn’t have huge space between my eyelids and my brow, some blending brushes can sometimes be a little too large and you don’t tend to get the exact look you are looking to achieve. Thanks to the fine bundle of fluffy bristles, it really just concentrates product into the crease whilst still blending it. It’s also great for getting a really defined shade into the crease if that’s the look you’re going for. I will definitely be purchasing another one for my kit.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation – I had forgotten that I had this foundation tucked away in my make up collection as hadn’t used it for a couple of months and had therefore forgotten how good it is. Nars Sheer Glow will always be my outright favourite foundation, but this comes very close to it. It is essentially almost a perfect match for it. The coverage is medium, but can be built to a fuller coverage when buffed into the skin. The finish leaves a slight illuminating, fresh glow, without being too much, which is exactly like the Nars one. It claims it lasts all day, but I’m not sure it would on combination skins. If you have a normal or slightly dry skin type then I’d say you’d have no bother with this. Overall a fantastic dupe for the Sheer Glow given it is a third of the price.
Available from Boots and pharmacies nationwide for €9.95

So that’s what I’ve been loving for the month of April. What’s you’re stand out products of April been?

Thanks for reading.

Lust List – Autumn/Winter

I’m a little late in getting this up, as there is just too much gorgeousness out there this Autumn/Winter to chose from. I’ve chosen mostly make up, but also thrown a nail polish in the mix as well, as I’m a girl that always needs nail varnish on her nails to hide them!

YSL Gris Underground (38) La Lacque Couture – it’s finally time to swap our summery pink nails for more muted colours and I think that this is the perfect colour to do just that. Part of their Fall Collection 2013, it’s

a beautiful blue-grey. I’m becoming a bit obsessive about grey at the moment having painted my bedroom in this colour, I now want to get my hands on the rest of the house! I’ve never used YSL nail varnishes so I don’t know how they last and if they are chip resistant, but just couldn’t resist the colour.

Tom Ford Bronzer – this is so much of a lust item and never going to be reality as it’s just too expensive for me to justify buying, plus, I’m really happy with my Nars Laguna bronzer, but a girl can always dream. Anyway, it comes in two slightly different colours and has received rave reviews to date. A major downfall of this product I feel is the size of the packaging, it’s just so big and just not particularly handy to keep in your make up bag. But a great product all the same.

TF bronzer

Nars Blush in Sin – (€30) – Again, this has received great reviews online so want to try it out. I’m not a great one for a really pinky blush as it just doesn’t suit me, but thought this would be a great Autum shade to try. I know it doesn’t look like much in the palette, but once on, it’s a really nice tone.

Nars Sin BlusherMAC Pro Conceal and Correct Palette – This would be so handy to have in my kit. I’d probably get both the Light and the Medium ones as these go up to NC35 and I would very rarely need anything darker than that. I’ve yet to find the ‘Holy Grail’ of concealers and think these would be great to try and nice and compact for my kit.

MAC Concealer Palette

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer – This is definitely something that I’m going to purchase for myself rather than my kit. I’ve heard that it doesn’t crease at all under the eyes. I’m about to run out of my Bare Minerals cream concealer and whilst I quite like it, I feel it’s a little too creamy for me and by the end of the day, I feel that it’s sliding off, which is never a great look!

MAC PRo Longwear concealer

MAC Pro Palette for eyeshadows – I’ve got three of these for my kit, the old ones that haven’t got the clear plastic lids, but really would like one of these large ones for my personal collection. I’ve a few of the small palettes but would like to have a large one that I can keep all the eyeshadows in and then transfer them to the smaller palette if I’m traveling or something. Every time I go to get one of these, they have been out of stock, even when I was over in New York earlier in the year. Fingers crossed I’ll get my hands on one soon enough.

MAC Pro Palette

Charlotte Tilbury Make Up (www.charlottetilbury.com) – If you don’t know who Charlotte Tilbury is, she is an absolute legend of the make up world, having worked on some of the most famous faces around. She has recently launched her own make up line and it all just looks gorgeous. I must have watched her tutorials a million times over and really want the whole collection, including the brushes. She’s such a natural artist and makes it all look so easy. If I had to choose I think I’d go for a couple of the Luxury Eyeshadow Palettes; Rock Star and The Dolce Vita, the Penelope Pink Lipstick with the matching lip pencil in Pillowtalk, the Rock n Kohl eye liner in black and her Cheek to Chic Blusher in Ectasy. And that’s me being conservative, there is heaps more that I want from the collection, especially some of the brushes! Think a few of these maybe making it onto my Christmas list!
