L’Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream – Review

I’ll be honest, I haven’t bought into all the marketing hype about BB and CC creams so far. As I have never been a fan of tinted moisturisers, I assumed that these creams were going to be just as useless for me. That was until a friend came to stay and said that she had been using the L’Oreal Nude Magique CC Cream recently and was raving about it, so recommended that I give it a go.
I was a little confused as to which one to get, as it comes in three different colour ways to combat redness, dullness and tiredness. I was kind of hoping that one cream would be able to conquer all three of those!! 😉 So I decided to go for the ‘Anti-Redness’ one.

The mint green colour of the cream did shock me a little at first, but knowing that green concealers are good for concealing any redness in the skin, I knew the reasons for it. It’s also a very thin consistency, so I have been applying it with my fingers as it contains smart pigment capsules that burst when you work it into the skin, and so is quickly absorbed. Since using the cream I am pleasantly surprised at how much I like it. Now, I do have a bit of a tan on my face, thanks to the slightly abnormal Irish summer we have experienced recently (definitely not complaining about that!). Therefore, I am happy to go for less coverage than my normal foundation, and this cream provides just the right amount of light coverage that corrects the redness around my nose and on my cheeks as well as adding some warmth to my complexion. However, I know it says it adapts to your skin’s colour, I’m not sure how it would look on a very pale complexion.

I’ve been using a powder just to set the cream, simply because I have quite an oily T Zone, and this seems to be keeping any shine at bay. The cream really does last much longer than I thought it would. I was working on the assumption that by lunchtime, I’d look like I hadn’t got anything on my face, but this hasn’t been the case. It has lasted most of the day.

I’m not sure if I would use this cream during the winter, as I like to have more coverage that a foundation would give me, but it will certainly be in my make up bag for those days I don’t want to be putting on make-up, but don’t want to scare the neighbours with a bare face! It’s perfect if you’re a mum on the go or simply running out of the house and don’t have time to apply foundation carefully. It has the added bonus of SPF12 in it so your skin is protected from the typical Irish summer! Price wise, it cost €15.39 in Boots, so was pretty pricey, especially when you compare it to a drugstore foundation.
If you wanted you could use this as a primer under your foundation as well, as this would add to the overall flawless look. I have done this a couple of times with my normal foundation, and whilst it events out the skin tone, it also makes my foundation look just a little too heavy for my liking, but if you’re into the full coverage look, then it would be great.
Overall, this is a staple in my make up bag at the moment and has been since I bought it. Delighted with it!
